The Black Farmers and Urban Gardeners Conference is “a gathering to strengthen networks and inspire new ideas among people working across disciplines to address the food-related issues that contribute to inequities in health, wealth and justice in Black communities.”
Black Urban Growers (BUGS) is an organization of volunteers committed to building networks and community support for growers in both urban and rural settings. The upcoming conference is a new honor for Detroit:
The conference has been held in Brooklyn, NY since 2011. This will be the first time that the conference is being hosted by another city. Detroit, a national and international leader in urban agriculture, was chosen as the conference location for 2014.
The Black Farmers Conference will be held from October 17-19, 2014.
